2025 de Margerie Lectures on Christian Reconciliation and Unity

The de Margerie lectures on Christian Reconciliation and Unity were named after the founding director of the Prairie Centre for Ecumenism, Father Bernard de Margerie. The inaugural de Margerie ecumenical lecture was held in Saskatoon in January 2013, and was originally started in partnership with the St. Thomas More College Chair in Catholic Studies. The goal of this series of lectures and workshops was to become an annual event during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity that would bring to Saskatoon distinguished ecumenists from around the world to motivate, inspire, and nurture our own local ecumenical activity and awareness.

The 2025 de Margerie lecturer is Saskatchewan's very own, the Rev. Dr. Sandra Beardsall. Sandra Beardsall is an ordained minister in the United Church of Canada. She was Professor of Church History and Ecumenics at St Andrew’s College, Saskatoon for 24 years, where her research and writing brough together historical, pastoral, and ecumenical concerns in the service of ministry, ecclesiology, and the search for Christian unity, with a special concern for local ecumenism. She has served on national ecumenical dialogues and is a member of the Commission on Faith and Order of the World Council of Churches and she is the moderator of the Nicaea 2025 steering group of the WCC's Commission on Faith and Order.

Lectures will be held on Wednesday, January 22nd in Saskatoon and Thursday, January 23rd in Regina. Workshops will be held on Friday, January 24th in Regina and Saturday, January 25th in Saskatoon. The two lectures complement each other and will be available both in-person and via livestream at bit.ly/Demargerie2025. For more information see posters below.
